1797 Sterling Silver George III English Serving Spoon by Peter and Ann Bateman London

$70.00

Outstanding example of the fine quality of Bateman family silversmithing. This nicely scaled (11.5") serving spoon is hand forged from a heavy gauge of silver with a traditional old English profile. No monograms. The hallmarks are particularly crisp for London, 1797, sterling, and weakly for Peter and Ann Bateman. This mark was registered in 1790 and Ann would only live until 1805. Certainly among the finest English spoons in my stock. Overall condition is good with typical minor wear and a nice velvety patina. No notable damage given 200+ years of use. Price is firm.

Weight: 47.5 grams
