Spectacular mid-century California oil on canvas of lake scene. This very high impact piece represents the best of 1960s California art. The piece is signed Lachmayr at lower left. Pine trees along the shore and the salmon hued sunset on the snowy peaks work in harmony to bring an overall sense of majesty and peace. Brushwork is thick in some areas such as the impasto in the peaks.
Canvas was originally thumbtacked, probably to the easel as it was painted in place. It was then stretched and stapled. In pencil on reverse is a number. Frame could be replaced or left intact as the probable original. Purchased from California. Dimensions: 15.5" x 21.5" image size. 22.25" x 28.25" with frame. Photos taken at different times of day show the range of how this painting will look in different lighting.
